Patient Stories -

Asha went to a mid-wife to give birth. She couldn't discharge the placenta and started bleeding profusely. It's hard to believe but the mid-wife packed her with sand in an attempt to stop the bleeding. Asha's family brought her to our clinic near death. Our doctor was fortunate to be able to save her life.

Nine year old Helima was the victim of FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM), a practice that is common in the area. The procedure was done by a village woman who stitched her up with thorns. The wound became badly infected to the point where Helima couldn't evacuate. Her family brought her to the clinic in critical condition and our doctor was able to save her life.
Meet Helima's younger sister. When I asked her mother what was going to happen to this child she replied "No one is going to touch this child"!  The elders surprisingly told us that they would like to put a stop to FGM. We are presently discussing the possibility of starting an education program, with the cooperation of the elders, to put a stop to this practice.
Fourteen year old Faisal was wounded by a mine.  Adults and children like Faisal are now able to be treated as in-patients since we have become a hospital.

$100 will provide our hospital with enough medicines and supplies for one day.
