NEWS: March 2007 - Health Center Report

November 2006 - Distribution of medicated mosquito nets to all villages in the Denan region.

October 2006 - Completion of agricultural training program for 36 villagers from 5 villages in new agricultural techniques and in the use of new drought resistant crops. Seeds and farming implements were distributed upon completion of training.

September 2006 - Opening of hospital laboratory and hiring of a lab technician.

  • Start of construction of water pipeline.

  • Engineering survey of surrounding villages and start of construction of earthen/cement works for flood control and improvement of agricultural fields.

  • Start of construction of 5 reservoirs in surrounding villages and Denan.

  • Start of medical outreach program.

  • Hiring of additional nurse, community health care worker and cleaner.

  • We marked our 20,000th FREE PATIENT VISIT.
  • Purchase of a Toyota pickup truck.

May 2006 - Reconstruction of the hospital was completed.

April 2006 - Water survey for pipeline construction was completed.

March 2006 - Reconstruction of the hospital was begun.

January 2006 - A unit of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa of the US Military did a site survey and began making improvements to our hospital.

December 2005 - Delivery of a new, Toyota ambulance.

November 2005 - Donation by the Somali Regional Health Bureau of enough equipment to turn our clinic into a hospital.

October 2005 - Delivery of a 28.8 KW generator to provide electricity to the clinic.

September 2005 - Delivery of 72,000 supplemental meals to combat anemia and under and mal-nourishment.  Visit of a US based woman doctor to work and consult at the clinic for one week.

This child holds one of 72,000 ready meals delivered by The Denan Project to Denan.  Plumpy'nut is specially developed for African tastes.  It is a peanut based product fortified with milk, minerals, vitamins and 500 calories.

The Toyota ambulance arrives in Ethiopia.

Fourteen year old Faisal was wounded by a mine.  Adults and children like Faisal are now able to be treated as in-patients since we have become a hospital.

 

$100 will provide our hospital with enough medicines and supplies for one day.
